Launching a Multi-Category Wellness Portfolio in Canada
Compliant Canadian entry for a broad sports nutrition and superfoods brand, spanning protein, digestive health, superfoods, and bone support under one importer of record.
MRM Nutrition is an established US brand with a wide portfolio spanning sports nutrition, organic superfoods, digestive health, and targeted supplements. Unlike a single-category brand, MRM's strength is its range, which meant Canadian entry couldn't be handled with one regulatory playbook. Each category carried its own rules, and every product needed to clear them before launch.
The Challenge
MRM's portfolio crosses several regulatory lanes at once. Supplements like Bone Maximizer III and Vegan Vitamin D3 & K2 fall under Health Canada's Natural Health Product framework and require individual NPN review. Powders like Organic Fermented Cacao, Whole Food Organic Fiber, and Green Banana Powder sit closer to the food and CFIA side. Protein and pre-workout formulas each carry their own ingredient and labeling considerations.
A single-lane approach would not work. Each product needed to be routed to the correct regulatory pathway, reviewed against the right Canadian standards, and packaged bilingually to meet Health Canada and CFIA requirements. On top of that, MRM's range was already surfacing through unauthorized channels in Canada, creating pricing and brand-control risk before an official presence was even in place.

Our Approach
Museo Brands acted as MRM's importer of record and built a category-by-category entry plan rather than a one-size template. We triaged the portfolio, mapping each SKU to its correct regulatory stream, NHP, food, or supplement, then ran the appropriate reviews: NPN applications and monograph checks for the supplements, ingredient and labeling review for the powders and foods.
From there we adapted packaging to bilingual Canadian standards, built optimized Canadian listings across the portfolio, and set a consistent pricing structure. To protect the brand as it scaled, we enforced pricing integrity and moved to consolidate sales under one authorized channel, removing grey-market and unauthorized sellers.
Logistics, inventory, and returns were unified into a single Canadian operation so a portfolio this broad could scale without operational drag.
From Challenge to Growth
Problem
A multi-category portfolio meant multiple regulatory pathways and no single launch template.
What We Did
We triaged each SKU to its correct stream, secured approvals, adapted packaging, and launched controlled listings.
Results
MRM entered Canada across several categories with compliant products and a protected, consolidated brand presence.
Learnings
Broad portfolios win in Canada when each product is routed correctly, not forced through one pathway.
